EO team to Knott County, KY June 24-30, 2018
team leader: Gail Lashley
On June 24, 11 of us loaded into our vehicles and made the road trip to Knott County Kentucky, where we stayed in the heart of God’s beauty at the Cordia School. We split into two teams, and headed out to meet people where they were. We were there, representing Gay St. UMC in Mt. Vernon, and were working for Appalachia Service Project. We had worked with ASP, previously, but it had been a number of years. This was, in fact, our 25th year!! We received our 25 year award, which was accepted by Ann Hudson, who was a long time attendee of ASP through Gay Street. (she’s 82 and made the trip, once again). One team helped a local family with drainage, placing subfloors, and with insulation, among many other tasks. My team did under-house insulation, layed subflooring and completely re-wired a home, getting it ready for electricity to be run to it. It was muddy, it was hot, it was rainy, but God was with us, keeping us safe, under his wing.
