Mission to Colombia Returns from Colombia
Hola amigos. The blessing of doing short term mission is amazing…especially if your short term trip goes back to the same community each time. The people of Brisas del Mar, Colombia has become like family to us, welcoming us each and every visit. This trip was amazing. On arrival in Cartagena we visited the Cartagena Methodist Church where Diana Ulloque, leader of the project “Construyamos ciudad” within our church in Cartagena, has been chosen to take part in the World Economic Forum’s “Global Shapers” initiative. The result is there is an amazing youth program is in place and one that is being introduced at Methodist church is all of Colombia’s major Cities. Moving on the Brisas del Mar, the team prepared to work on the building of the community church as well as offer ministry to the children, youth and adults. This trip included a special day of pastoral training for the pastors of the Coastal District of the Colombian Methodist Church. Ohio River Valley District Superintendent Rev Dr Todd Anderson and Rev Ed Groff presented a daylong seminar. Pastoral education is welcomed in the Colombian Church as many of the far reaching rural and indigenous church pastors are not formally educated. This trip also included a special visit to the very rural community of Arroyo Seco where children’s bible school and a children’s fun festive was presented, and our pastors meet with the adults of Arroyo Seco to discuss God’s grace and the very important needs of the community. Amazing doesn’t come close to describing the joy and satisfaction that is the Mission to Colombia. An Ohio River Valley/West Ohio team is being formed for next March 6-13th 2021. Team members are being accepted now. Contact team leaders Michael Estep and Paula Wolfe for further information at Michael.estep75@gmail.com. If you have interest, don’t wait…this team will fill quickly. Bendiciones.
